Dan Phutthakhun Prungkananon: SDI Instructor Trainer Ambassador

I’m Dan Phutthakhun Prungkananon from Bangkok, Thailand. I am very honored to be a member of SDI IT Ambassador team. I become the SDI IT in 2008. I felt that I made the right decision to join SDI family. Personally, I like extreme activities. Used to be a student pilot between 1996-1998 and a skydiver during 1997-1999. Every activity is speed and stunt but not diving. Slowness, Smoothness and being yourself in diving. And of course, the fun and friendship in diving trips make us really happy.

What was the first dive you did and how did it influence you to start a career in the diving industry?

I fell in love with the ocean and diving at the age of 10 when I attended the summer camp CIMI (Catalina Island Marine Institute). It was not until much later that I realized that I could make a career out of it and have been learning and teaching ever since.

What do you believe is the most important trait of a professional educator and why?

To create the perfect mix of safety and fun

What is your favorite SDI class to teach and why?

I love to teach Open water class and IDC because a good start with good professional management will make everything smooth and safety. Which is both of these classes.

Inspire to student in o/w class and build confidence for the instructor class.

What is a bucket list dive you still have?

We managed to teach Scubilities (Disabilities diver) for many years in Thailand and we have plans to organize the number of Scubilities diving course and trip in the world in Thailand soon.

And other super fun projects for recreational and tech divers is diving competition as…Diving Parade Personal Perfect trim and Super buoyancy group.

What is one bit of advice you would give to a perspective Instructor candidate about to embark on becoming an SDI Instructor?

The Professionalism and good management will create confidence and totally impress for your students.
